Refund Policy: Once Certification fees are satisfied, they are considered nonrefundable and nontransferable.

Certification Fees

Complete Certification Package
The Complete Certification Package includes the prerequisite NACD Director Professionalism® course, the NACD Directorship Certification Study Guide®, and all exam application and assessment fees.

NACD Individual Member: $4,900
NACD Full-Board Member and Current NACD Fellows (Active or those in the process of achieving): $3,750
Certification Exam Only
This option is available only to those who are eligible to bypass the prerequisite course. The fee includes the exam study guide and all exam application and assessment fees.

NACD Individual Member: $3,000
NACD Full-Board Member: $1,500

Exam Retake Fees

Exam Retake
If you do not pass the exam the first time, rescheduling rules and fees will apply:

  • After your first failed attempt, you can retake the exam after 30 days. A $250 retake fee will apply.
  • After your second failed attempt, you can retake the exam after 30 days. A $250 retake fee will apply.
  • After your third attempt without passing the exam, you are no longer eligible to take the exam.

Recertification Fees

Recertification
To maintain your certification status, certified directors must complete 32 NACD credits every 24 months. A recertification fee will then apply.

Cancellation Fees

Foundation Course Cancellation
Canceled event registration will be assessed a $500 cancellation fee. Cancellations must be received in writing no fewer than 30 calendar days before the event's start date to qualify for a partial refund. If written notice is given within 29 calendar days of the event start date, registrants will forfeit the entire program fee unless transferred to another NACD program according to the following transfer policy.

Application for transfer credit must be received within 30 calendar days of the date on which NACD receives written notice of cancellation. Transferred credit (less the $500 cancellation fee) will apply only to eligible NACD programs that occur within 12 months of cancellation. Please submit all cancellations and transfer requests via e-mail to registration@nacdonline.org or via fax to 866-536-9044.
Exam Cancellation
You may cancel a scheduled examination appointment by contacting Pearson VUE anytime up to 48 hours before your scheduled exam slot. Canceled appointments may be rescheduled within your allowed testing window.

If you miss your appointment, fail to cancel at least 48 hours before your appointment, or arrive more than 30 minutes after your scheduled exam time, you will automatically fail the examination and will need to reschedule your exam appointment for a later date. You will also forfeit your examination fees and pay a cancellation fee of $250.00 to reschedule your exam.

You may appeal these penalties to NACD in the event of serious circumstances or causes beyond your reasonable control, including, but not limited to, fire or other casualties, an act of God, or a medical emergency.
